9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to the definition of a designated law enforcement office
612 or agency for purposes of certain laws governing the installation
713 and use of tracking equipment and access to certain communications.
814 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
915 SECTION 1. Article 18B.001(4), Code of Criminal Procedure,
1016 is amended to read as follows:
1117 (4) "Designated law enforcement office or agency"
1218 means:
1319 (A) the sheriff's department of a county with a
1420 population of 3.3 million or more;
1521 (B) a police department in a municipality with a
1622 population of 200,000 [500,000] or more; or
1723 (C) the office of inspector general of the Texas
1824 Department of Criminal Justice.
1925 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
