10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 811, Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 811.0012 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 811.0012. COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT | |
14 | 14 | OFFICERS. Notwithstanding Sections 811.001(7) and 811.006, | |
15 | 15 | "compensation" for a law enforcement officer commissioned by the | |
16 | 16 | Department of Public Safety includes overtime pay the officer earns | |
17 | 17 | as a result of Section 411.0164. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
19 | 19 | to a member of the Employees Retirement System of Texas who retires | |
20 | 20 | on or after the effective date of this Act. A member who retires | |
21 | 21 | before the effective date of this Act is subject to the law in | |
22 | 22 | effect on the date of the member's retirement, and that law is | |
23 | 23 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
