55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the authority of a municipal management district to
88 provide public education facilities and public education-related
99 supplemental services.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 375.112(a), Local Government Code, is
1212 amended to read as follows:
1313 (a) An improvement project or services provided by the
1414 district may include the construction, acquisition, improvement,
1515 relocation, operation, maintenance, or provision of:
1616 (1) landscaping; lighting, banners, and signs;
1717 streets and sidewalks; pedestrian skywalks, crosswalks, and
1818 tunnels; seawalls; marinas; drainage and navigation improvements;
1919 pedestrian malls; solid waste, water, sewer, and power facilities,
2020 including electrical, gas, steam, cogeneration, and chilled water
2121 facilities; parks, plazas, lakes, rivers, bayous, ponds, and
2222 recreation and scenic areas; public education facilities; historic
2323 areas; fountains; works of art; off-street parking facilities, bus
2424 terminals, heliports, and mass transit systems; theatres, studios,
2525 exhibition halls, production facilities and ancillary facilities
2626 in support of the foregoing; and the cost of any demolition in
2727 connection with providing any of the improvement projects;
2828 (2) other improvements similar to those described in
2929 Subdivision (1);
3030 (3) the acquisition of real property or any interest
3131 in real property in connection with an improvement, project, or
3232 services authorized by this chapter, Chapter 54, Water Code, or
3333 Chapter 365 or 441, Transportation Code;
3434 (4) special supplemental services for advertising,
3535 economic development, promoting the area in the district, health
3636 and sanitation, public safety, public education, maintenance,
3737 security, business recruitment, development, elimination or relief
3838 of traffic congestion, recreation, and cultural enhancement; and
3939 (5) expenses incurred in the establishment,
4040 administration, maintenance, and operation of the district or any
4141 of its improvements, projects, or services.
4242 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
