7 | 7 | | relating to the authority of a municipal management district to |

8 | 8 | | provide public education facilities and public education-related |
---|
9 | 9 | | supplemental services. |

10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 375.112(a), Local Government Code, is |
---|
12 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
13 | 13 | | (a) An improvement project or services provided by the |
---|
14 | 14 | | district may include the construction, acquisition, improvement, |
---|
15 | 15 | | relocation, operation, maintenance, or provision of: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (1) landscaping; lighting, banners, and signs; |
---|
17 | 17 | | streets and sidewalks; pedestrian skywalks, crosswalks, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | tunnels; seawalls; marinas; drainage and navigation improvements; |
---|
19 | 19 | | pedestrian malls; solid waste, water, sewer, and power facilities, |
---|
20 | 20 | | including electrical, gas, steam, cogeneration, and chilled water |
---|
21 | 21 | | facilities; parks, plazas, lakes, rivers, bayous, ponds, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | recreation and scenic areas; public education facilities; historic |
---|
23 | 23 | | areas; fountains; works of art; off-street parking facilities, bus |
---|
24 | 24 | | terminals, heliports, and mass transit systems; theatres, studios, |
---|
25 | 25 | | exhibition halls, production facilities and ancillary facilities |
---|
26 | 26 | | in support of the foregoing; and the cost of any demolition in |
---|
27 | 27 | | connection with providing any of the improvement projects; |
---|
28 | 28 | | (2) other improvements similar to those described in |
---|
29 | 29 | | Subdivision (1); |
---|
30 | 30 | | (3) the acquisition of real property or any interest |
---|
31 | 31 | | in real property in connection with an improvement, project, or |
---|
32 | 32 | | services authorized by this chapter, Chapter 54, Water Code, or |
---|
33 | 33 | | Chapter 365 or 441, Transportation Code; |
---|
34 | 34 | | (4) special supplemental services for advertising, |
---|
35 | 35 | | economic development, promoting the area in the district, health |
---|
36 | 36 | | and sanitation, public safety, public education, maintenance, |
---|
37 | 37 | | security, business recruitment, development, elimination or relief |
---|
38 | 38 | | of traffic congestion, recreation, and cultural enhancement; and |
---|
39 | 39 | | (5) expenses incurred in the establishment, |
---|
40 | 40 | | administration, maintenance, and operation of the district or any |
---|
41 | 41 | | of its improvements, projects, or services. |

42 | 42 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
