9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 434.026. GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. (a) | |
13 | 13 | The Texas Veterans Commission shall develop and administer a grant | |
14 | 14 | program to provide financial assistance to veterans seeking a | |
15 | 15 | certification or training to prepare for employment in the energy | |
16 | 16 | industry. | |
17 | 17 | (b) The commission, in coordination with the General Land | |
18 | 18 | Office and Veterans' Land Board, shall conduct an outreach campaign | |
19 | 19 | to encourage veterans to participate in the grant program | |
20 | 20 | established under this section. | |
21 | 21 | (c) The commission shall adopt rules to implement the grant | |
22 | 22 | program established under this section, including rules | |
23 | 23 | establishing criteria for eligibility and terms of the grant. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
