| 8 | 8 | THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. (a) The Health and Human Services Commission | |
| 10 | 10 | shall conduct a study to determine: | |
| 11 | 11 | (1) the number of suicides of persons having been | |
| 12 | 12 | prescribed psychotropic medication; and | |
| 13 | 13 | (2) the length of psychotropic treatment completed by | |
| 14 | 14 | persons described by Subdivision (1) of this subsection. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) Not later than October 1, 2020, the Health and Human | |
| 16 | 16 | Services Commission shall file a report containing the results of | |
| 17 | 17 | the study and recommendations for legislation with the governor, | |
| 18 | 18 | the lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the house of | |
| 19 | 19 | representatives. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
