55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a reporting requirement for public schools regarding
88 instructional materials and technology.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 31.004, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows:
1212 (c) As part of the annual certification required under
1313 Subsection (a), each school district and open-enrollment charter
1414 school shall prepare a list that specifically identifies the
1515 instructional materials provided to each student by the district or
1616 school that cover each element of the essential knowledge and
1717 skills.
1818 (d) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to
1919 implement this section. The rules must include the format in which
2020 each school district and open-enrollment charter school must
2121 provide the list required under Subsection (c).
2222 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
2323 school year.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
