86 AN ACT
97 relating to exclusion of certain public school student disciplinary
108 actions from reports required by state or federal law.
119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Section 37.002, Education Code, is amended by
1311 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1412 (e) A student who is sent to the campus behavior
15- coordinator's or other administrator's office under Subsection (a)
16- or removed from class under Subsection (b) is not considered to have
13+ coordinator's office under Subsection (a) is not considered to have
1714 been removed from the classroom for the purposes of reporting data
1815 through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS)
1916 or other similar reports required by state or federal law.
2017 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
2118 school year.
2219 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2320 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2421 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2522 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2623 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
