9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 16, Election Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 16.040 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 16.040. CANCELLATION FOLLOWING DECENNIAL | |
13 | 13 | REDISTRICTING. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this | |
14 | 14 | code, on November 30 of each year that ends in one, the registrar | |
15 | 15 | shall cancel all voter registrations. | |
16 | 16 | (b) A cancellation under this section may not be challenged | |
17 | 17 | or reinstated under this chapter. | |
18 | 18 | (c) Following cancellation under this section, a person | |
19 | 19 | desiring to register to vote must submit an application for | |
20 | 20 | registration under Chapter 13. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
