66 AN ACT
77 relating to cancellation of all voter registrations following
88 decennial redistricting.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 16, Election Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 16.040 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 16.040. CANCELLATION FOLLOWING DECENNIAL
1313 REDISTRICTING. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this
1414 code, on November 30 of each year that ends in one, the registrar
1515 shall cancel all voter registrations.
1616 (b) A cancellation under this section may not be challenged
1717 or reinstated under this chapter.
1818 (c) Following cancellation under this section, a person
1919 desiring to register to vote must submit an application for
2020 registration under Chapter 13.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
