55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to employing and training mental health professionals for
88 the mental health program for veterans.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 434.352(b), Government Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (b) For the mental health program for veterans, the
1313 commission shall:
1414 (1) provide training to peer service coordinators and
1515 peers in accordance with Section 434.353;
1616 (2) provide technical assistance to peer service
1717 coordinators and peers;
1818 (3) identify, train, and communicate with
1919 community-based licensed mental health professionals,
2020 community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations;
2121 [and]
2222 (4) coordinate services for justice involved
2323 veterans; and
2424 (5) employ and train mental health professionals to
2525 assist the Department of State Health Services in the
2626 administration of the program.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
