| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 65, Election Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 65.016 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 65.016. INTERNET POSTING OF ELECTION RESULTS. (a) A | |
| 13 | 13 | county, city, or independent school district that holds or provides | |
| 14 | 14 | election services for an election and maintains an Internet website | |
| 15 | 15 | shall post on its public Internet website: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) the results of each election; | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) the total number of votes cast; and | |
| 18 | 18 | (3) the total number of votes cast for each candidate | |
| 19 | 19 | or for or against each measure. | |
| 20 | 20 | (b) The information described by Subsection (a) must be: | |
| 21 | 21 | (1) provided as soon as practicable after the | |
| 22 | 22 | election; and | |
| 23 | 23 | (2) accessible without having to make more than two | |
| 24 | 24 | selections or view more than two network locations after accessing | |
| 25 | 25 | the county's, city's, or district's Internet website home page. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
