| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 10 | 10 | adding Subsection (x) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (x) The State Board of Education by rule shall require each | |
| 12 | 12 | school district to incorporate into the district's curriculum the | |
| 13 | 13 | 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations to | |
| 14 | 14 | transform the world. | |
| 15 | 15 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 | |
| 16 | 16 | school year. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
