9 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 1602.354(c), Occupations Code, is |

11 | 13 | | amended to read as follows: |

12 | 14 | | (c) The commission shall require continuing education |
---|
13 | 15 | | programs under this chapter to include information on: |
---|
14 | 16 | | (1) activities commonly associated with human |
---|
15 | 17 | | trafficking; |
---|
16 | 18 | | (2) recognition of potential victims of human |
---|
17 | 19 | | trafficking; [and] |
---|
18 | 20 | | (3) methods for assisting victims of human |
---|
19 | 21 | | trafficking, including how to report human trafficking; and |
---|
20 | 22 | | (4) sexual assault and domestic violence awareness. |

21 | 23 | | SECTION 2. (a) Not later than March 1, 2020, the Texas |
---|
22 | 24 | | Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall adopt rules to |
---|
23 | 25 | | implement Section 1602.354(c), Occupations Code, as amended by this |
---|
24 | 26 | | Act. |
---|
25 | 27 | | (b) Section 1602.354(c), Occupations Code, as amended by |
---|
26 | 28 | | this Act, and the rules adopted under Subsection (a) of this section |
---|
27 | 29 | | apply only to a continuing education program provided on or after |
---|
28 | 30 | | September 1, 2020. A continuing education program provided before |
---|
29 | 31 | | that date is governed by the law in effect immediately before the |
---|
30 | 32 | | effective date of this Act, and the former law is continued in |
---|
31 | 33 | | effect for that purpose. |
---|
32 | 34 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
