79 relating to a study regarding the cost of child care in this state
810 in comparison to family income.
911 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1012 SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Workforce Commission shall
1113 conduct a study regarding the cost of child care in this state in
1214 comparison to family income. The study must:
1315 (1) examine:
1416 (A) trends in child-care costs and projections
1517 for future child-care costs;
1618 (B) child-care costs in comparison to family
1719 income based on federal poverty guidelines, state median income, or
1820 other relevant income standards; and
1921 (C) the amount of governmental money estimated or
2022 available to support subsidized child care over the periods used
2123 for the data described in Paragraphs (A) and (B) of this subdivision
2224 and the number of children receiving subsidized child care; and
2325 (2) estimate the number of families eligible to
2426 receive subsidized child care.
2527 (b) Not later than December 15, 2020, the Texas Workforce
2628 Commission shall report the results of the study conducted under
2729 Subsection (a) of this section to the governor, the lieutenant
2830 governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each
2931 legislative standing committee with jurisdiction over child-care
3032 facilities.
3133 (c) This section expires September 1, 2021.
3234 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
