44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to training regarding fire safety inspections required by
77 law.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 419.909(a), Government Code, is amended
1010 to read as follows:
1111 (a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a fire
1212 inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by a state
1313 or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The following
1414 entities may provide training related to fire safety inspections:
1515 (1) the commission;
1616 (2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association
1717 of Texas;
1818 (3) the National Fire Protection Association;
1919 (4) a public junior college;
2020 (5) a regional fire academy; or
2121 (6) any state agency with authority over fire safety
2222 inspections.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
2626 If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
