9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 129.001, Government Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 129.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "public safety | |
13 | 13 | employee" means a peace officer, firefighter, detention officer, | |
14 | 14 | county jailer, [or] emergency medical services employee, or | |
15 | 15 | emergency service dispatcher of this state or a political | |
16 | 16 | subdivision of this state. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | |
18 | 18 | person who, on or after the effective date of this Act, enters a | |
19 | 19 | public safety employees treatment court program created under | |
20 | 20 | Chapter 129, Government Code, regardless of whether the person | |
21 | 21 | entering the program committed the offense for which the person | |
22 | 22 | enters the program before, on, or after the effective date of this | |
23 | 23 | Act. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
