66 AN ACT
77 relating to adjustment of a school district's wealth per student
88 under the school finance system to reflect campus security costs.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 41.001(2), Education Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (2) "Wealth per student" means the taxable value of
1313 property, as determined under Subchapter M, Chapter 403, Government
1414 Code, divided by the number of students in weighted average daily
1515 attendance and adjusted in accordance with Section 41.0011.
1616 SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Education Code, is
1717 amended by adding Section 41.0011 to read as follows:
1818 Sec. 41.0011. ADJUSTMENT OF WEALTH PER STUDENT FOR CAMPUS
1919 SECURITY COSTS. The commissioner shall adjust a school district's
2020 wealth per student by deducting the amount of revenue per student in
2121 weighted average daily attendance expended by the district to pay
2222 campus security costs during the preceding school year.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
