57 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
68 AN ACT
79 relating to the applicability of the law governing the provision of
810 state aid to certain local governments disproportionately affected
911 by the granting of ad valorem tax relief to disabled veterans.
1012 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1113 SECTION 1. Section 140.011(a)(2), Local Government Code, is
1214 amended to read as follows:
1315 (2) "Local government" means:
1416 (A) a municipality adjacent to or with
1517 extraterritorial jurisdiction located within two miles of the
1618 boundary line of a United States military installation; and
1719 (B) a county in which a United States military
1820 installation is wholly or partly located.
1921 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to the
2022 eligibility of a qualified local government to apply for a disabled
2123 veteran assistance payment beginning with the fiscal year of the
2224 local government that ends in the 2019 tax year.
2325 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
