55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the bilingual education allotment provided under the
88 public school finance system.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Sections 42.153(a) and (b), Education Code, are
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) For each student in average daily attendance in a
1313 bilingual education or special language program under Subchapter B,
1414 Chapter 29, a district is entitled to an annual allotment equal to
1515 the adjusted basic allotment multiplied by 0.25 [0.1].
1616 (b) Funds allocated under this section, other than an
1717 indirect cost allotment established under State Board of Education
1818 rule, which may not exceed 45 percent, must be used in providing
1919 bilingual education or special language programs under Subchapter
2020 B, Chapter 29, and must be accounted for under existing agency
2121 reporting and auditing procedures.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
