| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 41.094, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | |
| 12 | 12 | follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) A school district shall pay for credits purchased: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) in equal monthly payments as determined by the | |
| 15 | 15 | commissioner beginning February 15 and ending August 15 of the | |
| 16 | 16 | school year for which the agreement is in effect; or | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) in one payment for the total amount required to be | |
| 18 | 18 | paid by the district not later than August 15 of the school year for | |
| 19 | 19 | which the agreement is in effect. | |
| 20 | 20 | (a-1) If a school district elects to pay for credits | |
| 21 | 21 | purchased in the manner provided by Subsection (a)(2), the district | |
| 22 | 22 | must notify the commissioner not later than February 15 of the | |
| 23 | 23 | school year for which the agreement is in effect. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
