| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 344.051, Local Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Subsection (a-3) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a-3) The governing body of a municipality may propose the | |
| 13 | 13 | creation of a fire control, prevention, and emergency medical | |
| 14 | 14 | services district under this chapter if the municipality: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) has a population of 19,000 or more and less than | |
| 16 | 16 | 60,000; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) contains a campus of North Central Texas College. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
