55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to permitting the Texas Ethics Commission to provide
88 seminars and charge an attendance fee for those seminars.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 571.071, Government Code, is amended by
1111 amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (d) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (c) The commission may provide a seminar for persons
1414 required to register under Chapter 305 that addresses issues
1515 involving lobbying, political contributions and expenditures, and
1616 other issues as determined by the commission. The commission may
1717 charge a fee for attending the seminar in an amount necessary to
1818 cover the costs associated with the seminar, including the cost of
1919 providing food or nonalcoholic beverages to attendees.
2020 (d) The commission may provide a seminar that addresses the
2121 laws administered and enforced by the commission and any other
2222 relevant laws, as determined by the commission. The commission may
2323 charge a fee for attending the seminar in an amount necessary to
2424 cover the costs associated with the seminar, including the cost of
2525 providing food or nonalcoholic beverages to attendees.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2727 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2929 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3030 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
