97 relating to the use of land in the William Goodrich Jones State

119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 88, Education Code, is
1311 amended by adding Section 88.1085 to read as follows:
1412 Sec. 88.1085. USE OF LAND IN WILLIAM GOODRICH JONES STATE
1513 FOREST. (a) For the purpose of this section, the "Jones State
1614 Forest" means the real property owned by the state for the use and
1715 benefit of The Texas A&M University System to demonstrate
18- reforestation work and sound forest management under the Texas A&M
19- Forest Service, consisting of approximately 1,722 acres in
20- Montgomery County, and formally dedicated and named the William
21- Goodrich Jones State Forest.
16+ reforestation work under the Texas A&M Forest Service, consisting
17+ of approximately 1,722 acres in Montgomery County, and formally
18+ dedicated and named the William Goodrich Jones State Forest.
2219 (b) The entire territory of the Jones State Forest must
2320 remain natural, scenic, undeveloped, and open in a manner that
2421 maintains the tree canopy cover of the forest. No statute, rule,
2522 policy, or ordinance may be enforced with respect to the territory
2623 of the Jones State Forest, other than a statute, rule, policy, or
27- ordinance that protects and conserves the natural resources, air
24+ ordinance that protects and preserves the natural resources, air
2825 quality, or water quality of the Jones State Forest.
2926 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
