| 7 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 1701.402, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | by adding Subsection (o) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | (o) The commission shall adopt rules to allow an officer who |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | has served in the military to receive credit toward meeting any |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | training hours required for an intermediate, advanced, or master |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | proficiency certificate based on that military service. |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | of this Act, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | rules necessary to implement Section 1701.402(o), Occupations |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | Code, as added by this Act. |

| 18 | 24 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
