9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to proficiency certification of law enforcement officers
612 with military service.
713 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
814 SECTION 1. Section 1701.402, Occupations Code, is amended
915 by adding Subsection (o) to read as follows:
1016 (o) The commission shall adopt rules to allow an officer who
1117 has served in the military to receive credit toward meeting any
1218 training hours required for an intermediate, advanced, or master
1319 proficiency certificate based on that military service.
1420 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
1521 of this Act, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt
1622 rules necessary to implement Section 1701.402(o), Occupations
1723 Code, as added by this Act.
1824 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
