| 6 | 6 | | RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | hereby create the Complete Count Census Committee to study, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | develop, and recommend strategies to encourage full participation |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of this state's residents in the 2020 federal decennial census; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | RESOLVED, That the committee collaborate with appropriate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | state agencies and political subdivisions for the purpose of this |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | study; and, be it further |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | RESOLVED, That the committee be composed of the following |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | members: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) three persons appointed by the lieutenant |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | governor; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) three persons appointed by the speaker of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | house of representatives; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) one person appointed by the governor, who serves |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | as the chair of the committee; and, be it further |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | house of representatives, and the governor appoint members of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | committee as soon as practicable after the effective date of this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | resolution; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a member of the committee may be reimbursed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | for actual and necessary expenses incurred in performing committee |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | duties, and that the committee be authorized to accept gifts, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | grants, and donations to pay for those expenses; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the committee meet not later than the 30th day |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | after the date initial appointments are made and meet regularly as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | necessary at the call of the chair; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the committee submit a written report to the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | legislature with its findings and recommendations not later than |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | October 31, 2019, and that the committee be abolished on September |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 1, 2020. |
