| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning |

| 7 | 7 | | Organization (MPO) is the federally funded transportation planning |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | entity for Hidalgo County; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Transportation planning decisions made by the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Hidalgo County MPO reflect the priorities of its planning partners, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | which are the cities within the urbanized area of Hidalgo County; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Hidalgo, Mission, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | McAllen and Edinburg; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The City of Hidalgo proposes to include Produce Road |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | between State Highway 115 and State Highway 336 in the Hidalgo |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | County MPO Thoroughfare Plan for future planning purposes; the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | roadway serves as a collector of commercial truck traffic between |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the two state highways and needs to be improved; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Hidalgo City Council has passed a resolution of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | support to direct city staff to include Produce Road as a priority |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in the city's thoroughfare plan and to urge the Hidalgo County MPO |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to include the roadway in the Hidalgo County MPO Thoroughfare Plan; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Hidalgo County MPO Thoroughfare Plan identifies |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | roadways that need to be improved to meet the county's future |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | transportation needs, and the inclusion of Produce Road would |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | benefit area residents; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | hereby respectfully urge the Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Organization to include Produce Road in the Hidalgo County MPO |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Thoroughfare Plan; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward a copy of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | this resolution to the director of the Hidalgo County MPO. |
