55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing certain persons
77 under the age of 18 to vote in a primary election.
88 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1010 adding Section 1a to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 1a. The legislature by general law may provide for
1212 voting in a primary election by a person who:
1313 (1) will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the
1414 subsequent general election for state and county officers; and
1515 (2) satisfies the other applicable requirements for
1616 eligibility to vote.
1717 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1818 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019.
1919 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2020 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing a person
2121 who will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the general
2222 election for state and county officers to vote in the preceding
2323 primary election."
