55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment dedicating the net revenue
77 from any tax on the sale or use of cannabis or marijuana to public
88 education.
99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1111 adding Section 32 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 32. Subject to legislative appropriation, allocation,
1313 and direction, the net revenue remaining after the payment of
1414 refunds allowed by law and expenses of collection derived from a tax
1515 on the sale or use of cannabis or marijuana may be used only for the
1616 support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free
1717 schools.
1818 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1919 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019.
2020 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2121 proposition: "The constitutional amendment dedicating the net
2222 revenue from any tax on the sale or use of cannabis or marijuana to
2323 public education."
