9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Section 32 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 32. Subject to legislative appropriation, allocation, | |
13 | 13 | and direction, the net revenue remaining after the payment of | |
14 | 14 | refunds allowed by law and expenses of collection derived from a tax | |
15 | 15 | on the sale or use of cannabis or marijuana may be used only for the | |
16 | 16 | support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free | |
17 | 17 | schools. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
19 | 19 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | |
20 | 20 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
21 | 21 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment dedicating the net | |
22 | 22 | revenue from any tax on the sale or use of cannabis or marijuana to | |
23 | 23 | public education." |
