8 | 8 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 65(a), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, | |
10 | 10 | is amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (a) This section applies to the following offices: District | |
12 | 12 | Clerks; County Clerks; County Judges; [Judges of the County Courts | |
13 | 13 | at Law, County Criminal Courts, County Probate Courts and County | |
14 | 14 | Domestic Relations Courts]; County Treasurers; Criminal District | |
15 | 15 | Attorneys; County Surveyors; County Commissioners; Justices of the | |
16 | 16 | Peace; Sheriffs; Assessors and Collectors of Taxes; District | |
17 | 17 | Attorneys; County Attorneys; Public Weighers; and Constables. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
19 | 19 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | |
20 | 20 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
21 | 21 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing certain | |
22 | 22 | judges to become a candidate for another office without | |
23 | 23 | automatically resigning from the office already held." |
