45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz, the leadership program
67 director for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and a
78 professor at Texas A&M University, has benefited the state's
89 agricultural community tremendously in the course of his
910 outstanding career; and
1011 WHEREAS, Dr. Mazurkiewicz first joined the Texas A&M
1112 AgriLife Extension Service in 1978; he worked as a county extension
1213 agent until 1998, when he became a professor and the director of the
1314 Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership (TALL) Program; in 2008, he
1415 took on his current role as leadership program director, assuming
1516 responsibility for the TALL Program as well as international
1617 extension programs and the San Antonio Livestock
1718 Exposition-Leadership Extension; and
1819 WHEREAS, In his spare time, Dr. Mazurkiewicz operates a
1920 commercial cattle herd, and he has judged beef cattle shows across
2021 the country and coached numerous 4-H livestock judging teams;
2122 moreover, he has served as president of the Brazos Valley Fair &
2223 Exposition, and he has shared his expertise with the International
2324 Association of Programs for Agricultural Leadership, the
2425 Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas and Brazos
2526 County Farm Bureaus, among other organizations; and
2627 WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his peers,
2728 Dr. Mazurkiewicz is an A&M Regents Fellow, and he has garnered such
2829 prestigious accolades as a Medal of Merit from the president of
2930 Poland, Volunteer of the Year and Agriculture Recognition Awards
3031 from the Bryan/College Station chamber, and a Meritorious Service
3132 Award from Epsilon Sigma Phi; and
3233 WHEREAS, Dr. Mazurkiewicz is a native of the Brazos Valley
3334 and a graduate of Waller High School; he received a bachelor's
3435 degree in animal science from Texas A&M, where he later returned to
3536 earn a doctorate in animal science, and he also holds a master's
3637 degree in agriculture education from Texas Tech University; in all
3738 his endeavors, Dr. Mazurkiewicz has enjoyed the love and support of
3839 his wife, Kathy, and his three children, James, Kathy Ann, and
3940 Stephanie; and
4041 WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
4142 commitment to excellence, Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz has made a positive
4243 and lasting difference in his field, and he is indeed deserving of
4344 recognition for his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
4445 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4546 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz for his significant
4647 contributions to the agricultural industry in the Lone Star State
4748 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
4849 it further
4950 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5051 prepared for Dr. Mazurkiewicz as an expression of high regard by
5152 the Texas House of Representatives.
