5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz, the leadership program |

6 | 7 | | director for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and a |

7 | 8 | | professor at Texas A&M University, has benefited the state's |

8 | 9 | | agricultural community tremendously in the course of his |
---|
9 | 10 | | outstanding career; and |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Mazurkiewicz first joined the Texas A&M |
---|
11 | 12 | | AgriLife Extension Service in 1978; he worked as a county extension |
---|
12 | 13 | | agent until 1998, when he became a professor and the director of the |
---|
13 | 14 | | Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership (TALL) Program; in 2008, he |
---|
14 | 15 | | took on his current role as leadership program director, assuming |
---|
15 | 16 | | responsibility for the TALL Program as well as international |
---|
16 | 17 | | extension programs and the San Antonio Livestock |
---|
17 | 18 | | Exposition-Leadership Extension; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In his spare time, Dr. Mazurkiewicz operates a |
---|
19 | 20 | | commercial cattle herd, and he has judged beef cattle shows across |
---|
20 | 21 | | the country and coached numerous 4-H livestock judging teams; |
---|
21 | 22 | | moreover, he has served as president of the Brazos Valley Fair & |
---|
22 | 23 | | Exposition, and he has shared his expertise with the International |
---|
23 | 24 | | Association of Programs for Agricultural Leadership, the |
---|
24 | 25 | | Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas and Brazos |
---|
25 | 26 | | County Farm Bureaus, among other organizations; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his peers, |
---|
27 | 28 | | Dr. Mazurkiewicz is an A&M Regents Fellow, and he has garnered such |
---|
28 | 29 | | prestigious accolades as a Medal of Merit from the president of |
---|
29 | 30 | | Poland, Volunteer of the Year and Agriculture Recognition Awards |
---|
30 | 31 | | from the Bryan/College Station chamber, and a Meritorious Service |
---|
31 | 32 | | Award from Epsilon Sigma Phi; and |
---|
32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Mazurkiewicz is a native of the Brazos Valley |
---|
33 | 34 | | and a graduate of Waller High School; he received a bachelor's |
---|
34 | 35 | | degree in animal science from Texas A&M, where he later returned to |
---|
35 | 36 | | earn a doctorate in animal science, and he also holds a master's |
---|
36 | 37 | | degree in agriculture education from Texas Tech University; in all |
---|
37 | 38 | | his endeavors, Dr. Mazurkiewicz has enjoyed the love and support of |
---|
38 | 39 | | his wife, Kathy, and his three children, James, Kathy Ann, and |
---|
39 | 40 | | Stephanie; and |
---|
40 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
---|
41 | 42 | | commitment to excellence, Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz has made a positive |
---|
42 | 43 | | and lasting difference in his field, and he is indeed deserving of |
---|
43 | 44 | | recognition for his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
---|
44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
---|
45 | 46 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz for his significant |
---|
46 | 47 | | contributions to the agricultural industry in the Lone Star State |

47 | 48 | | and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
