45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Sneha and Pranai Reddy, two students from Incarnate
67 Word Academy in Corpus Christi, founded the charitable group Walk
78 Again to help change the lives of children and adults in India with
89 severe physical challenges; and
910 WHEREAS, The brother-sister duo established the organization
1011 in 2017 alongside their cousin, Nischal Chennuru; while visiting
1112 family in India, the three students saw many people with missing
1213 limbs in the rural areas of Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh and
1314 witnessed firsthand how their condition impacted nearly every
1415 aspect of their lives, from their ability to work to their social
1516 standing in the community; and
1617 WHEREAS, Sneha and Pranai Reddy began performing research
1718 into how to improve access to prosthetic limbs for Indians who could
1819 not afford them; this led to the discovery of a southern India-based
1920 nonprofit, Freedom Trust, that was aligned with their goals; the
2021 students decided to make it the mission of Walk Again to raise funds
2122 to support the work of Freedom Trust; they started out by selling
2223 hand-sewn tablecloths and went on to hold a charity golf tournament
2324 to garner donations for the project, and they have also devoted
2425 themselves to educating others about their cause; and
2526 WHEREAS, The funds raised through Walk Again have helped
2627 identify suitable candidates for prosthetic limbs, design and
2728 customize the prostheses, and train their recipients on how to use
2829 them; on December 27, 2018, Sneha and Pranai Reddy and Nischal
2930 Chennuru attended a ceremony in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh,
3031 where they witnessed the culmination of many months of
3132 collaborative work between Walk Again and Freedom Trust; at the
3233 event, the students were able to participate in handing out
3334 prosthetic limbs to 100 grateful recipients; and
3435 WHEREAS, Walk Again is giving people who are coping with
3536 great adversity a renewed outlook on life, and Sneha and Pranai
3637 Reddy have distinguished themselves as young Texans of remarkable
3738 dedication, compassion, and initiative through this endeavor; now,
3839 therefore, be it
3940 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4041 Legislature hereby honor Sneha and Pranai Reddy for their work as
4142 founders of Walk Again and extend to them sincere best wishes for
4243 continued success; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
4445 for Sneha and Pranai Reddy as an expression of high regard by the
4546 Texas House of Representatives.
