5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sneha and Pranai Reddy, two students from Incarnate |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The brother-sister duo established the organization |

10 | 11 | | in 2017 alongside their cousin, Nischal Chennuru; while visiting |
---|
11 | 12 | | family in India, the three students saw many people with missing |
---|
12 | 13 | | limbs in the rural areas of Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh and |
---|
13 | 14 | | witnessed firsthand how their condition impacted nearly every |
---|
14 | 15 | | aspect of their lives, from their ability to work to their social |
---|
15 | 16 | | standing in the community; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Sneha and Pranai Reddy began performing research |

17 | 18 | | into how to improve access to prosthetic limbs for Indians who could |
---|
18 | 19 | | not afford them; this led to the discovery of a southern India-based |
---|
19 | 20 | | nonprofit, Freedom Trust, that was aligned with their goals; the |
---|
20 | 21 | | students decided to make it the mission of Walk Again to raise funds |
---|
21 | 22 | | to support the work of Freedom Trust; they started out by selling |
---|
22 | 23 | | hand-sewn tablecloths and went on to hold a charity golf tournament |

23 | 24 | | to garner donations for the project, and they have also devoted |
---|
24 | 25 | | themselves to educating others about their cause; and |

25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The funds raised through Walk Again have helped |

26 | 27 | | identify suitable candidates for prosthetic limbs, design and |

27 | 28 | | customize the prostheses, and train their recipients on how to use |

28 | 29 | | them; on December 27, 2018, Sneha and Pranai Reddy and Nischal |

29 | 30 | | Chennuru attended a ceremony in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, |

30 | 31 | | where they witnessed the culmination of many months of |

31 | 32 | | collaborative work between Walk Again and Freedom Trust; at the |

32 | 33 | | event, the students were able to participate in handing out |
---|
33 | 34 | | prosthetic limbs to 100 grateful recipients; and |

34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Walk Again is giving people who are coping with |

35 | 36 | | great adversity a renewed outlook on life, and Sneha and Pranai |

36 | 37 | | Reddy have distinguished themselves as young Texans of remarkable |

37 | 38 | | dedication, compassion, and initiative through this endeavor; now, |

40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby honor Sneha and Pranai Reddy for their work as |
