| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Los Barrios was founded by Viola Barrios in 1979 as a |

| 10 | 11 | | way to provide for her family after the passing of her husband, |

| 11 | 12 | | Jose; she opened the restaurant in an old boathouse, offering a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | variety of "casero style" Mexican dishes; over the years, Los |

| 13 | 14 | | Barrios has become a favorite among local patrons, and it has also |

| 14 | 15 | | earned national media recognition, appearing on Good Morning |

| 15 | 16 | | America, The Today Show, and a number of programs on the Food |

| 16 | 17 | | Network; in addition, the business has been featured on the Travel |

| 17 | 18 | | Channel, NPR, PBS, the BBC, and Telemundo International, as well as |

| 18 | 19 | | in many print publications, including Texas Monthly, Southern |

| 19 | 20 | | Living, Esquire, and the New York Times; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Today, Los Barrios remains a family affair, with |

| 21 | 22 | | Viola Barrios's son, Louis Barrios, serving as president and CEO, |

| 22 | 23 | | her daughter, Diana Barrios Trevino, and her husband, Roland, |

| 23 | 24 | | serving as vice presidents, and her granddaughter, Analie Van |

| 24 | 25 | | Sciver, serving as director of human resources; the Barrios family |

| 25 | 26 | | also owns several other restaurants, a catering business, a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | boutique, and Viola's Huge Heart Foundation, a nonprofit that aims |

| 27 | 28 | | to help women achieve their goals by providing them with |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Los Barrios has |

| 30 | 31 | | become a signature San Antonio enterprise, and the members of the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Barrios family may take great pride in their legacy of success as |

| 32 | 33 | | they celebrate this special milestone; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of Los Barrios |

| 35 | 36 | | Restaurant and extend to all those associated with the business |

| 36 | 37 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
