45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The passing of Caroline Booth of Denton on March 24,
67 2019, at the age of 42, has brought a profound loss to the family and
78 many dear friends of this beloved woman; and
89 WHEREAS, Caroline Booth was born in San Antonio on January
910 24, 1977, to Julie and John Booth; after graduating from Denton High
1011 School in 1995, she earned a bachelor's degree in animal science and
1112 agricultural journalism from Texas A&M University; she later went
1213 back to school and obtained her master's degree in public
1314 administration from the University of North Texas; and
1415 WHEREAS, Ms. Booth began her career as the editor of the Land
1516 and Livestock Post, a publication of the Bryan-College Station
1617 Eagle; she went on to work as a communications specialist for the
1718 Noble Foundation of Ardmore, Oklahoma, before returning to Denton
1819 and taking a job as the volunteer coordinator and development
1920 director for the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home; she then
2021 served as communications director for the UNT library, and in 2014,
2122 she became the business development officer of Denton Municipal
2223 Electric; the following year, she was hired by the City of Denton's
2324 planning and development department, where she was promoted to
2425 director of development in 2016; along the way, she continued to
2526 serve the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home as a board member
2627 and also held membership in the Denton Benefit League; and
2728 WHEREAS, Fiercely devoted to her family, Ms. Booth was
2829 blessed to share her life with her husband, Michael Upshaw, and she
2930 took great pride in her two sons, Andrew and Luke; and
3031 WHEREAS, Although the untimely loss of Caroline Booth has
3132 deeply saddened all those who held her dear, they will forever
3233 treasure their memories of the joy, love, and laughter that she
3334 brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Caroline Booth and
3637 extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her
3738 husband, Michael Upshaw; to her sons, Andrew Lara and Luke Upshaw;
3839 to her father and stepmother, John Booth and Patti Richard; to her
3940 mother and stepfather, Julie and Gary Stillwell; to her sister,
4041 Char Booth; to her step-siblings, Alexandra Cappelletti and Kristi
4142 and Matt Stillwell; to her grandfather, Thomas D. Murphy III; and
4243 to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Caroline
4647 Booth.
