5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The passing of Caroline Booth of Denton on March 24, |

6 | 7 | | 2019, at the age of 42, has brought a profound loss to the family and |

7 | 8 | | many dear friends of this beloved woman; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Caroline Booth was born in San Antonio on January |
---|
9 | 10 | | 24, 1977, to Julie and John Booth; after graduating from Denton High |
---|
10 | 11 | | School in 1995, she earned a bachelor's degree in animal science and |
---|
11 | 12 | | agricultural journalism from Texas A&M University; she later went |
---|
12 | 13 | | back to school and obtained her master's degree in public |
---|
13 | 14 | | administration from the University of North Texas; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Booth began her career as the editor of the Land |
---|
15 | 16 | | and Livestock Post, a publication of the Bryan-College Station |
---|
16 | 17 | | Eagle; she went on to work as a communications specialist for the |
---|
17 | 18 | | Noble Foundation of Ardmore, Oklahoma, before returning to Denton |
---|
18 | 19 | | and taking a job as the volunteer coordinator and development |
---|
19 | 20 | | director for the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home; she then |
---|
20 | 21 | | served as communications director for the UNT library, and in 2014, |
---|
21 | 22 | | she became the business development officer of Denton Municipal |
---|
22 | 23 | | Electric; the following year, she was hired by the City of Denton's |
---|
23 | 24 | | planning and development department, where she was promoted to |
---|
24 | 25 | | director of development in 2016; along the way, she continued to |
---|
25 | 26 | | serve the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home as a board member |
---|
26 | 27 | | and also held membership in the Denton Benefit League; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Fiercely devoted to her family, Ms. Booth was |
---|
28 | 29 | | blessed to share her life with her husband, Michael Upshaw, and she |
---|
29 | 30 | | took great pride in her two sons, Andrew and Luke; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although the untimely loss of Caroline Booth has |
---|
31 | 32 | | deeply saddened all those who held her dear, they will forever |
---|
32 | 33 | | treasure their memories of the joy, love, and laughter that she |
---|
33 | 34 | | brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Caroline Booth and |

36 | 37 | | extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her |

37 | 38 | | husband, Michael Upshaw; to her sons, Andrew Lara and Luke Upshaw; |
