| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church of Olney |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrated the 120th anniversary of their church's founding on June |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In June 1898, eight charter members met in the |

| 9 | 10 | | Methodist church to organize a new congregation with the assistance |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | of a Baptist missionary; First Baptist grew along with the town, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | through the years, it has benefited from the dedicated efforts of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | many outstanding clergymen, including Senior Pastor Chad |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Edgington, who has led the congregation since 2013; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong traditions, |

| 15 | 16 | | the members of this notable house of worship support a variety of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | commendable initiatives, including mission work at home and abroad; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Countless Olney residents have looked to First |

| 19 | 20 | | Baptist Church for spiritual enrichment and guidance through the |

| 20 | 21 | | years, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to recognize |

| 21 | 22 | | the church; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 23 | 24 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 120th anniversary of First |

| 24 | 25 | | Baptist Church of Olney and extend to its members sincere best |

| 25 | 26 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
