5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Young Soil and Water Conservation District |

6 | 7 | | celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding on August 5, 2018; |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Young County was originally part of the Upper West |

9 | 10 | | Fork Soil and Water Conservation District, which also consisted of |

10 | 11 | | parts of Jack, Wise, Montague, Clay, and Archer Counties; in 1968, |
---|
11 | 12 | | residents of Young County petitioned to create an independent |
---|
12 | 13 | | district, and after gaining approval from the State Conservation |
---|
13 | 14 | | Board and the Secretary of State, Young Soil and Water Conservation |
---|
14 | 15 | | District No. 539 was officially created; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, For the past five decades, the district has worked |
---|
16 | 17 | | to increase understanding of soil and water conservation and has |
---|
17 | 18 | | helped educate the public on the need to conserve natural |
---|
18 | 19 | | resources; today, the organization benefits from the dedicated |
---|
19 | 20 | | efforts of its staff and board of directors, including John Paclik, |
---|
20 | 21 | | Chawn Jobe, Kenneth Lowe, Richard Ligon, Rodney Hawkins, Mary Jane |
---|
21 | 22 | | Byerly, and Sam Creel; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Young Soil and Water Conservation District has |

23 | 24 | | made a lasting and positive difference in area agriculture by |
---|
24 | 25 | | fostering more effective stewardship of the land, and it is truly |

25 | 26 | | deserving of recognition at this special time in its history; now, |

26 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Young Soil and Water |

29 | 30 | | Conservation District on its 50th anniversary and extend to all |

30 | 31 | | those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for the |
