45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Young Soil and Water Conservation District
67 celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding on August 5, 2018;
78 and
89 WHEREAS, Young County was originally part of the Upper West
910 Fork Soil and Water Conservation District, which also consisted of
1011 parts of Jack, Wise, Montague, Clay, and Archer Counties; in 1968,
1112 residents of Young County petitioned to create an independent
1213 district, and after gaining approval from the State Conservation
1314 Board and the Secretary of State, Young Soil and Water Conservation
1415 District No. 539 was officially created; and
1516 WHEREAS, For the past five decades, the district has worked
1617 to increase understanding of soil and water conservation and has
1718 helped educate the public on the need to conserve natural
1819 resources; today, the organization benefits from the dedicated
1920 efforts of its staff and board of directors, including John Paclik,
2021 Chawn Jobe, Kenneth Lowe, Richard Ligon, Rodney Hawkins, Mary Jane
2122 Byerly, and Sam Creel; and
2223 WHEREAS, The Young Soil and Water Conservation District has
2324 made a lasting and positive difference in area agriculture by
2425 fostering more effective stewardship of the land, and it is truly
2526 deserving of recognition at this special time in its history; now,
2627 therefore, be it
2728 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2829 Legislature hereby congratulate the Young Soil and Water
2930 Conservation District on its 50th anniversary and extend to all
3031 those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for the
3132 future; and, be it further
3233 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3334 prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
3435 Texas House of Representatives.
