5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

6 | 7 | | passing of Clark Dennis Klein Sr. of Kerrville on February 20, 2018, |

7 | 8 | | at the age of 80; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Kerrville to Walter and Minnie Leyendecker |
---|
9 | 10 | | Klein on January 19, 1938, Clark Klein grew up with the |
---|
10 | 11 | | companionship of three sisters, Marilyn, Yolanda, and Barbara; he |
---|
11 | 12 | | attended Notre Dame Catholic School and later graduated from Tivy |
---|
12 | 13 | | High School in 1956, before enlisting in the United States Army and |
---|
13 | 14 | | serving in Germany for three years; after returning home, he spent |
---|
14 | 15 | | more than two decades in the Texas National Guard, where he attained |
---|
15 | 16 | | the rank of command sergeant major; he remained deeply proud of his |
---|
16 | 17 | | military service throughout his life; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Klein enjoyed a civilian career with the |
---|
18 | 19 | | U.S. Postal Service, working as a letter carrier in San Antonio and |
---|
19 | 20 | | Austin and retiring in Kerrville as superintendent of postal |
---|
20 | 21 | | operations; following his retirement, his passion for cars led him |
---|
21 | 22 | | to serve as a driver for local car dealers, and he delighted in |
---|
22 | 23 | | taking annual family trips to Europe, especially Germany and |
---|
23 | 24 | | Ireland; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Guided by a strong and abiding faith, Mr. Klein gave |
---|
25 | 26 | | much of his time to the Knights of Columbus; he was a charter member |
---|
26 | 27 | | of the Father Kemper Council and served the organization as Grand |
---|
27 | 28 | | Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth |
---|
28 | 29 | | Degree; he was also a longtime parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic |
---|
29 | 30 | | Church and a volunteer for the Notre Dame rectory, and he served |
---|
30 | 31 | | selflessly as a communion minister to the ill and homebound; |
---|
31 | 32 | | moreover, he was a member of the Ingram school board as well as a |
---|
32 | 33 | | graduate of the Kerrville Citizen Police Academy; and |
---|
33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Klein was blessed with the love and support of |
---|
34 | 35 | | his wife of 55 years, Karen Klein; he was the devoted father of |
---|
35 | 36 | | three children, Clark, Kevin, and Christine, and he experienced the |
---|
36 | 37 | | joy of welcoming into his family four grandsons, Joseph, Gabe, |
---|
37 | 38 | | Samuel, and Jacob, and a great-grandson, Cole; and |
---|
38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of Clark Klein brings great sorrow |
---|
39 | 40 | | to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be |
---|
40 | 41 | | treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
---|
41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
---|
42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clark Dennis Klein Sr. |

43 | 44 | | and extend sincere sympathy to his relatives and friends; and, be it |
