45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Clark Dennis Klein Sr. of Kerrville on February 20, 2018,
78 at the age of 80; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Kerrville to Walter and Minnie Leyendecker
910 Klein on January 19, 1938, Clark Klein grew up with the
1011 companionship of three sisters, Marilyn, Yolanda, and Barbara; he
1112 attended Notre Dame Catholic School and later graduated from Tivy
1213 High School in 1956, before enlisting in the United States Army and
1314 serving in Germany for three years; after returning home, he spent
1415 more than two decades in the Texas National Guard, where he attained
1516 the rank of command sergeant major; he remained deeply proud of his
1617 military service throughout his life; and
1718 WHEREAS, Mr. Klein enjoyed a civilian career with the
1819 U.S. Postal Service, working as a letter carrier in San Antonio and
1920 Austin and retiring in Kerrville as superintendent of postal
2021 operations; following his retirement, his passion for cars led him
2122 to serve as a driver for local car dealers, and he delighted in
2223 taking annual family trips to Europe, especially Germany and
2324 Ireland; and
2425 WHEREAS, Guided by a strong and abiding faith, Mr. Klein gave
2526 much of his time to the Knights of Columbus; he was a charter member
2627 of the Father Kemper Council and served the organization as Grand
2728 Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth
2829 Degree; he was also a longtime parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic
2930 Church and a volunteer for the Notre Dame rectory, and he served
3031 selflessly as a communion minister to the ill and homebound;
3132 moreover, he was a member of the Ingram school board as well as a
3233 graduate of the Kerrville Citizen Police Academy; and
3334 WHEREAS, Mr. Klein was blessed with the love and support of
3435 his wife of 55 years, Karen Klein; he was the devoted father of
3536 three children, Clark, Kevin, and Christine, and he experienced the
3637 joy of welcoming into his family four grandsons, Joseph, Gabe,
3738 Samuel, and Jacob, and a great-grandson, Cole; and
3839 WHEREAS, While the passing of Clark Klein brings great sorrow
3940 to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be
4041 treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
4142 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4243 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clark Dennis Klein Sr.
4344 and extend sincere sympathy to his relatives and friends; and, be it
4445 further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4748 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Clark
4849 Dennis Klein Sr.
