45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, John G. Rouse is retiring as superintendent of the
67 Rains County Independent School District in June 2019, concluding
78 37 years of outstanding service in public education; and
89 WHEREAS, Mr. Rouse began his career as a coach and social
910 studies teacher with Garland ISD, and he went on to hold positions
1011 with the Richardson and Carrollton-Farmers Branch school
1112 districts; in 1991, he joined Crandall ISD, where, over the course
1213 of a 14-year tenure, he served as a varsity football, track, and
1314 baseball coach, social studies teacher, assistant high school
1415 principal, and intermediate campus principal; he briefly returned
1516 to work with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district before
1617 transferring to Kaufman ISD to serve as a high school principal and
1718 assistant superintendent and then to Jarrell ISD to serve as
1819 superintendent; and
1920 WHEREAS, Since joining the Rains County school district in
2021 2012, Mr. Rouse has worked tirelessly to foster a supportive and
2122 challenging educational environment for area students, and he has
2223 earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues along the way;
2324 and
2425 WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as an administrator,
2526 Mr. Rouse has contributed to his professional community as a member
2627 of the Texas Association of Rural Schools Board of Directors, the
2728 UIL Executive Committee and Legislative Council, the membership
2829 committee of the American Football Coaches Association, and the
2930 Region 7 Education Service Center Executive Board; and
3031 WHEREAS, Mr. Rouse holds a bachelor's degree from East Texas
3132 State University-Commerce and a master's degree in education from
3233 Texas A&M University-Commerce; in all his endeavors, he has enjoyed
3334 the love and support of his wife, Janice, and his children, John and
3435 Jill; and
3536 WHEREAS, Over the course of nearly four decades, John Rouse
3637 has helped countless young Texans acquire the knowledge and skills
3738 necessary to succeed, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a
3839 career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his
3940 life; now, therefore, be it
4041 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4142 Legislature hereby congratulate John G. Rouse on his retirement as
4243 superintendent of the Rains County Independent School District and
4344 extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4445 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4546 prepared for Mr. Rouse as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4647 House of Representatives.
