| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ray Reese of Cuero is stepping down as DeWitt County |

| 6 | 7 | | attorney on June 28, 2019, drawing to a close 25 years of |

| 7 | 8 | | exceptional service in that position; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Reese first took office as county attorney in |

| 9 | 10 | | 1994, and he was subsequently reelected six times; in the course of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | his tenure, he has been instrumental in fostering cooperation |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | between public offices and emphasizing fairness in juvenile and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | misdemeanor criminal cases; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Over the past quarter of a century, his office has |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | overseen more than 13,000 adult and 11,000 juvenile hearings, as |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | well as collected upwards of $3.4 million in fines and more than $2 |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | million in bounced checks; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his invaluable work as county |

| 18 | 19 | | attorney, Mr. Reese has further served his fellow residents through |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | his private law practice, Dietze & Reese; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ray Reese's dedication, professionalism, and |

| 21 | 22 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited DeWitt County and |

| 22 | 23 | | earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as he embarks on |

| 24 | 25 | | the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor Ray Reese for his service as DeWitt County |

| 27 | 28 | | attorney and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
