5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable David C. Davis retired as Haskell |

6 | 7 | | County judge on March 31, 2019, concluding a noteworthy tenure that |

7 | 8 | | spanned more than two decades; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First elected in 1996, David Davis ably fulfilled |
---|
9 | 10 | | the responsibilities of his office, going above and beyond in |
---|
10 | 11 | | behalf of his fellow citizens; over the years, he further shared his |
---|
11 | 12 | | knowledge and expertise by serving on countless boards and |
---|
12 | 13 | | committees; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was born in Kinston, North Carolina, to |
---|
14 | 15 | | Joe and Joyce Davis; he grew up in the Mattson community in Haskell |
---|
15 | 16 | | County with a sister, Diana Kay, and attended Hardin-Simmons |
---|
16 | 17 | | University; from 1970 to 1971, he served his country in the U.S. |
---|
17 | 18 | | Army, and he was stationed in Virginia and Korea; he worked with his |
---|
18 | 19 | | father on the family farm before buying an auto supply store, which |
---|
19 | 20 | | he operated for 20 years; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis is supported by the |
---|
21 | 22 | | love and encouragement of his wife, Donna; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through his leadership and commitment to public |
---|
23 | 24 | | service, David Davis has contributed immeasurably to his community, |
---|
24 | 25 | | and his accomplishments will continue to resonate for years to |
---|
25 | 26 | | come; now, therefore, be it |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate David C. Davis on his retirement as |

28 | 29 | | Haskell County judge and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |

29 | 30 | | future; and, be it further |
