45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Students from the Aspermont Independent School
67 District won a $10,000 grand prize for their district in the
78 POWERADE Power Your School program; and
89 WHEREAS, A Coca-Cola brand, POWERADE established the contest
910 to support school athletics; students were required to submit a
1011 video or essay showing ways in which additional funding could
1112 benefit sports at their schools, and entries were judged on the
1213 basis of creativity, originality, and demonstrated need; across
1314 Texas, only 10 schools were awarded grand prizes; and
1415 WHEREAS, Six eighth-grade students in Allison Martin's
1516 Fundamentals of Computer Science class submitted a winning entry;
1617 Kelly Lowack, Kylie Chesser, Wesley Koenig, Justin Martin, Kade
1718 Morris, and Caleb Beck united their efforts to produce a video,
1819 learning along the way how to conduct interviews, shoot footage,
1920 prepare title screens and credits, and edit both audio and visual
2021 elements; and
2122 WHEREAS, Through their hard work and talent, these Aspermont
2223 ISD students secured a monetary prize that will greatly benefit
2324 athletic programs, and their accomplishment is a source of great
2425 pride to the district and to the community; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate the Aspermont Independent School
2728 District students on winning a grand prize in the POWERADE Power
2829 Your School competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2930 continued success; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
