45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A number of future leaders have provided
67 indispensable support as participants in the Texas Legislative
78 Internship Program during the 86th Legislative Session; and
89 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Internship Program was
910 established by State Senator Rodney Ellis in December 1990, and it
1011 is administered by Texas Southern University; the program provides
1112 students from Texas colleges and universities with a unique
1213 opportunity to serve as interns in the Texas Legislature, the
1314 United States Congress, and a variety of local, state, and national
1415 government agencies and public policy organizations; and
1516 WHEREAS, Students receive academic credit for participating
1617 in the program, which combines academic study and research with
1718 supervised practical training; as interns, they gain firsthand
1819 knowledge of the governmental process and work experience in a
1920 political environment, as well as insight into the issues facing
2021 our communities and our state today; and
2122 WHEREAS, This year's participants in the Texas Legislative
2223 Internship Program are Victoria Garcia, Jennifer Russell, Briana
2324 Golden, Zainab Ghwari, Franklin Achonye, Yusuf Bavi, Paige Bostic,
2425 Day Brown, Braylen Gage, Brandi Granderson, Kristopher Henny, Ellis
2526 Leland, Justus Miles, Ikenna Okoro, Pedro Perez-Navejar, Sarah
2627 Perkins, Kelly Peterson, John Phelan, Kathleen Roberts, Sherrell
2728 Ross, Alexis Tatum, and Breana Wilson; and
2829 WHEREAS, Through the diligence and resourcefulness that they
2930 have demonstrated while performing a multitude of tasks, these
3031 admirable young men and women have contributed significantly to the
3132 offices they have served and, in turn, to the constituents who
3233 reside in their districts; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Texas Legislative
3536 Internship Program Class of the 86th Legislature for their
3637 excellent work and extend to them best wishes for the future; and,
3738 be it further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4041 House of Representatives.
