| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Bascom William Bentley IV on |

| 6 | 7 | | April 11, 2019, at the age of 37, brought a great loss to his family |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born to Carol Bentley and Judge Bascom Bentley III |

| 9 | 10 | | on July 26, 1981, William Bentley grew up with a sister, Bonnie, and |

| 10 | 11 | | two brothers, Hunter and Matthew; like his father, grandfather, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | great-grandfather, he attended Palestine High School; after |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | playing baseball and football at Texas A&M University-Kingsville |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and Baker University, he went on to earn both his bachelor's degree |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and his law degree from The University of Texas at Austin; answering |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | his nation's call to duty, he also served in the U.S. Army before |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | receiving a medical discharge; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bentley worked in Texas and across Eastern |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Europe as vice president of TransAtlantic Petroleum, and he resided |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | for a time in Istanbul, Turkey; subsequently, he became an |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | entrepreneur and oil and gas consultant in his home state; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, On October 20, 2018, Mr. Bentley was joined in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | matrimony to the former Lizzy Chesnut in a ceremony conducted in San |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Miguel de Allende, Mexico; they shared a fulfilling relationship, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | and he was devoted to her happiness; a man of deep integrity, he |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | remained unassuming despite considerable professional success at |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | an early age; he was an avid learner with a keen interest in world |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | events, and his wit, intellect, and gift for storytelling allowed |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | him to connect easily with anyone he encountered; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, William Bentley will be deeply missed, but he |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | immeasurably enriched the lives of all who had the good fortune to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | share in his love and friendship, and they will forever carry him |

| 32 | 33 | | close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
