H.R. No. 1296 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport has been named the 2019 General Aviation Airport of the Year by the Texas Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, Presented annually by TxDOT's Aviation Division, this award recognizes an airport that has distinguished itself through its outstanding facilities and operations and that has become essential to the regional transportation system; and WHEREAS, Owned and operated by Brazoria County, Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport has become a vital hub of commerce in the region; several corporations, including Dow Chemical and Buc-ee's, keep aircraft at the airport; and WHEREAS, In recent years, the airport has undergone such improvements as an update to its master plan, the reconstruction of a runway, the design and construction of a new terminal building, the installation of wildlife fencing, the renovation of aprons and ramps, and the building of fixed-based operator hangars; and WHEREAS, The enduring support of Brazoria County has been crucial to the success of the facility, as has the dedicated work of director of aviation Jeff Bilyeu, airport superintendent Pete David, and their staff; and WHEREAS, Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport is indispensable to the transportation infrastructure of Southeast Texas, and its significant contributions to its community and to the Lone Star State make it a fitting recipient of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport on being named the 2019 General Aviation Airport of the Year and extend to all those associated with the airport sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
