| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Presented annually by TxDOT's Aviation Division, |

| 9 | 10 | | this award recognizes an airport that has distinguished itself |

| 10 | 11 | | through its outstanding facilities and operations and that has |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | become essential to the regional transportation system; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Owned and operated by Brazoria County, Texas Gulf |

| 13 | 14 | | Coast Regional Airport has become a vital hub of commerce in the |

| 14 | 15 | | region; several corporations, including Dow Chemical and Buc-ee's, |

| 15 | 16 | | keep aircraft at the airport; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In recent years, the airport has undergone such |

| 17 | 18 | | improvements as an update to its master plan, the reconstruction of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | a runway, the design and construction of a new terminal building, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | the installation of wildlife fencing, the renovation of aprons and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | ramps, and the building of fixed-based operator hangars; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The enduring support of Brazoria County has been |

| 22 | 23 | | crucial to the success of the facility, as has the dedicated work of |

| 23 | 24 | | director of aviation Jeff Bilyeu, airport superintendent Pete |

| 24 | 25 | | David, and their staff; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport is indispensable |

| 26 | 27 | | to the transportation infrastructure of Southeast Texas, and its |

| 27 | 28 | | significant contributions to its community and to the Lone Star |

| 28 | 29 | | State make it a fitting recipient of this prestigious honor; now, |
