45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jacob Henry Neidig of Elgin High School has
67 distinguished himself as an exceptional student, a talented
78 athlete, and a valued member of his community; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Harlan and Juanita Neidig, Mr. Neidig has
910 demonstrated great intellect and aptitude and a dedication to the
1011 highest academic standards throughout his high school career; an AP
1112 Scholar and a National Hispanic Scholar, he is currently ranked
1213 first in his class at Elgin High School with a 4.0 grade point
1314 average; and
1415 WHEREAS, In addition to managing a demanding course load,
1516 Mr. Neidig has excelled in athletics, playing for the football and
1617 baseball teams and participating in cross-country, powerlifting,
1718 tennis, and golf; he is a member of the Fellowship of Christian
1819 Athletes, the Elgin High School Football Leadership Council, and
1920 the Elite Academic All-State Team; and
2021 WHEREAS, Mr. Neidig has further contributed to his campus
2122 community as the senior class representative and as a member of the
2223 Student-Principal-Superintendent Advisory Committee; elected
2324 homecoming king by his fellow students, he has served as president
2425 of the National Honor Society and Key Club, attended the American
2526 Legion Boys State leadership program, and organized a bipartisan
2627 voter registration event at Elgin High School; engaged in the wider
2728 community as well, he has volunteered with Ronald McDonald House
2829 Charities of Central Texas and Sacred Heart Catholic Church; and
2930 WHEREAS, The first person in his immediate family to attend
3031 college, Mr. Neidig has been accepted by such prestigious schools
3132 as The University of Texas at Austin, Georgetown University, Rice
3233 University, the University of Notre Dame, Brown University, and
3334 Harvard University; he also got into his dream school, Stanford
3435 University, where he plans to double major in economics and
3536 political science; his long-term goals include earning a law
3637 degree, working as a civil rights attorney, and pursuing a career in
3738 politics; and
3839 WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to excellence,
3940 Jacob Neidig has built a strong foundation for success, and he may
4041 take justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks forward
4142 to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore,
4243 be it
4344 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4445 Legislature hereby commend Jacob Henry Neidig for his outstanding
4546 academic achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
4647 future; and, be it further
4748 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4849 prepared for Mr. Neidig as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4950 House of Representatives.
