5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |

6 | 7 | | family and friends of James Dewey Welch of Mabank, who passed away |

7 | 8 | | on March 15, 2019, at the age of 88; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, James Welch was born in Caddo, Oklahoma, on |
---|
9 | 10 | | September 14, 1930, to Clyde and Beautrice Welch, and he grew up |
---|
10 | 11 | | with the companionship of a brother, Leslie, and two sisters, |
---|
11 | 12 | | Pauline and Wanda; he answered his nation's call to duty by joining |
---|
12 | 13 | | the U.S. Navy, and following his military service, he earned a |
---|
13 | 14 | | master's degree in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State |
---|
14 | 15 | | University; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Welch was a longtime educator who taught at |
---|
16 | 17 | | several schools in Weslaco and Mesquite, where he touched the lives |
---|
17 | 18 | | of many students; after completing his career, he served as a member |
---|
18 | 19 | | of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Mesquite |
---|
19 | 20 | | Association of Retired School Employees; moreover, he was a valued |
---|
20 | 21 | | congregant of the Beacon Church of Christ, and in his leisure time, |
---|
21 | 22 | | he enjoyed pursuing his favorite hobby, fishing; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A caring family man, Mr. Welch shared more than 63 |
---|
23 | 24 | | years of marriage with the love of his life, Sue Welch, and he was |
---|
24 | 25 | | the proud father of four children, Larry, Randy, Susan, and Danny; |
---|
25 | 26 | | he later experienced the joy of welcoming into his family six |
---|
26 | 27 | | grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, James Welch is deeply missed, and he will long be |
---|
28 | 29 | | remembered with warmth and affection by all who were fortunate |
---|
29 | 30 | | enough to know him; now, therefore, be it |

30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
