| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, Allen ISD and the Foundation for Allen |

| 9 | 10 | | Schools pay tribute to exceptional educators with the Teacher of |

| 10 | 11 | | the Year Awards; Ms. Nelson was first selected as the campus |

| 11 | 12 | | honoree at Preston Elementary School and then was chosen as the |

| 12 | 13 | | Elementary Teacher of the Year for the entire district; this |

| 13 | 14 | | prestigious accolade includes a $500 cash award and gifts and |

| 14 | 15 | | prizes donated by community partners; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An enthusiastic educator with five years of |

| 16 | 17 | | experience, Ms. Nelson currently teaches reading and world |

| 17 | 18 | | cultures at Preston Elementary, where she works tirelessly to help |

| 18 | 19 | | her students reach their full potential; she is an alumna of Allen |

| 19 | 20 | | High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2007; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 21 | 22 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Renee Nelson exemplifies the passion, |

| 25 | 26 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |

| 26 | 27 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |

| 27 | 28 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
