| 10 | 11 | | Texas Legislature in 1846; the city is located on the site of the |

| 11 | 12 | | Hedgecoxe War of 1852, in which an armed uprising of settlers |

| 12 | 13 | | protested an attempt by the Texas Emigration and Land Company to |

| 13 | 14 | | compromise their land claims; the 1902 opening of a railroad line |

| 14 | 15 | | shifted the local economy from cattle raising to cotton farming, |
