5	5	WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Shelbi Nicole Stephens on
6	6	April 13, 2019, at the age of 23, has brought a profound loss to
7	7	those who loved and cherished her; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Shelbi Stephens was born in Dallas on March 16,
9	9	1996, to Angela and Wayne Stephens; growing up, she was blessed with
10	10	the affection of a large family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and
11	11	cousins, and she was the sister of three siblings, Chassidi,
12	12	Carrington, and the late Ayden Stephens; she graduated from DeSoto
13	13	High School, where she distinguished herself as both a cheerleader
14	14	and a majorette and won the state title for twirling in 2014; as a
15	15	child, she also participated in the youth praise dance group at
16	16	Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, and she later became a
17	17	praise dancer at Red Oak Faith Fellowship Church; and
18	18	WHEREAS, After high school, Ms. Stephens pursued her passion
19	19	for hairstyling at MJ's Beauty Academy in Dallas before joining her
20	20	sister, Chassidi, on the stylist team at iVibe Beauty Lounge in
21	21	Cedar Hill; she made a name for herself in the hair industry and on
22	22	social media as "Shelbi the Slayologist" and gained a loyal
23	23	following of clients; her specialties included custom wigs,
24	24	coloring, and hair extensions, as well as makeup, and she looked
25	25	forward to venturing into the cosmetics market with the upcoming
26	26	launch of her own lip gloss line; when not at work, she enjoyed
27	27	promoting her brand and showing off her renowned styling skills at
28	28	hair industry trade shows; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Ms. Stephens's greatest joy was becoming the mother
30	30	of a son, Kaiden Isaiah Sanders, in 2015, and she worked hard to
31	31	advance her career in order to provide him with the best life
32	32	possible; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Through the love, kindness, and beauty she shared,
34	34	Shelbi Stephens made the world a brighter place for all who knew
35	35	her, and they will forever keep her memory alive in their hearts;
36	36	now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
38	38	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Shelbi Nicole
39	39	Stephens and extend deepest condolences to the members of her
40	40	family: to her father, Wayne Stephens; to her mother, Angela
41	41	Sillemon; to her son, Kaiden Sanders; to her siblings, Chassidi
42	42	Sillemon and Carrington Stephens; to her grandfather, Willie
43	43	Sillemon; to her grandmother, Nadine Stephens-McKenzie; to her
44	44	fiancé, Kaleb Northcutt; and to her numerous other relatives,
45	45	friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
47	47	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
48	48	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Shelbi
49	49	Stephens.
