45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
67 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
78 of Charles H. Jackson, who died on April 21, 2019, at the age of 87;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, The descendent of a pioneering ranching family in
1011 San Angelo, Charles Jackson was born to R. H. and Leah Graham
1112 Jackson on February 9, 1932; he was raised on a ranch in Schleicher
1213 County and baptized in the South Concho River, and after beginning
1314 his education in a one-room schoolhouse, he attended San Marcos
1415 Military Academy and graduated from Eldorado High School; he went
1516 on to study at San Angelo College and Texas Tech University; and
1617 WHEREAS, In 1951, Mr. Jackson married Imogene Wheeler, and
1718 the couple shared a rewarding marriage that spanned 68 years; he was
1819 the proud father of four children, John, Pat, Janet, and Charles,
1920 and later in life, he was "Pepaw" to his eight grandchildren, John,
2021 Jonathan, Christina, Kristen, Stephanie, Joel, Patrick, and Kate,
2122 and his four great-grandchildren, George, Grace, Landon, and
2223 Brooklyn; and
2324 WHEREAS, After living in San Angelo and Ozona, Mr. Jackson
2425 and his family settled in Big Lake, where he and his wife operated
2526 Farm and Ranch Supply and maintained ranching operations in Reagan
2627 and Schleicher Counties for many years; Mr. Jackson served as
2728 president of the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the
2829 Reagan County School Board, and he was an honorary director of the
2930 Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association; and
3031 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson shared his expertise, his work ethic,
3132 and his passion for ranching with his children and grandchildren;
3233 he enjoyed meeting new people, and he delighted in telling stories,
3334 playing dominoes and horseshoes, and hunting and fishing; a man of
3435 profound faith, he was a leading member of First Baptist Church Big
3536 Lake for more than half a century, serving as a deacon, treasurer,
3637 Sunday school teacher, and song leader; and
3738 WHEREAS, Charles Jackson lived a rich and purposeful life
3839 centered on his family, his faith, and his community, and he will
3940 long be remembered with deep affection by all who were privileged to
4041 know him; now, therefore, be it
4142 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
4243 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles H. Jackson
4344 and extend heartfelt sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further
4445 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4546 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4647 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles
4748 H. Jackson.
