| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas is home to more than 500 public |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | safety call centers, where trained operators respond to urgent |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | calls for police, fire, and emergency medical services and dispatch |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | appropriate assistance as quickly as possible; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators are the vital link |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | between citizens in need and the agencies that can render aid; these |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | invaluable professionals are called on to accurately and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | efficiently answer emergency requests that may come at any hour of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the day or night, and they frequently must have the skill and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | composure to perform their duties under considerable pressure; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, New and emerging technology is necessary to ensure |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | that our state's 9-1-1 service is able to consistently meet the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | expectations of our citizens; the Texas chapter of the National |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Emergency Number Association, which represents the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | telecommunicators, directors, planning professionals, and industry |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | service providers that are part of this system, is a leader in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | promoting research, training, and education as well as fostering |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the development and accessibility of 9-1-1 services; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Texans are deeply indebted to the individuals who |

| 28 | 29 | | serve as the first point of access in the event of an emergency, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | 9-1-1 Day provides a fitting opportunity to raise awareness of our |

| 30 | 31 | | 9-1-1 service and the importance of modernizing this system to keep |
